Project Car Update 3

We decided to remove all of the original front frame members.  They were too weak and it didn't make sense to keep them considering the rest of the work done on the chassis.

The car was placed onto the chassis jig to make sure everything is fitted together correctly.

Here is the last of the stock frame before it was cut out.  We ran into a problem which is shown here.  The shock tower did not fit flat on the stock frame rail because of the upper lip on the frame rail. [EDIT no longer using Griggs front suspension]

Here the engine is fitted to see if anything needs to be done. We decide the cowl should be removed.

The cowl ducting was removed and the upper cowl sheet metal has been made removable so we can get to the engine to work on it.  Below shows the before and after of removing the cowl to make room to move the engine reward.  The engine now sits completely behind the front suspension centre line.  A foam dummy block is used to bolt the heads, intake, and turbos in place.

Above is approximately where the seat will be located with the set back engine.

...develop, race, win!
